Our public speaking team won Best Team at the UCD Under 15 Public Speaking competition held in University College Dublin on Saturday 8th February. Keira Reilly (3F), Roisin Behan (2E) and Meadhbh Behan (1C) performed brilliantly to win first place. The adjudicators were very impressed by structure, content and delivery of our team's speeches. The students were given 40 minutes to prepare a 3 minute speech on a randomly picked topic which then had to be delivered to an assembled audience in UCD, a very challenging task indeed.
A special mention must go to our first year student Meadhbh Behan who also received a trophy for Best Speaker at the competition. This is a fantastic achievement for Meadhbh given her young age and her humorous, engaging speech was truly deserving of this award.
Our three students now progress to the national final of the competition next month where they will compete against the winning teams from the heats held in Trinity College, NUI Galway, and Queens University Belfast.
