Geography Research Study

On Wednesday 23rd October, 6th Year Geography students ventured to Kippure, in the beautiful Wicklow countryside, as part of the Leaving Certificate Field Trip.

Despite the cold students wrapped up and weren't afraid to get their feet wet as they embraced the opportunity to develop their skills in measuring and recording. With the project worth 20% of the final grade, students were delighted to avail of the opportunity to carry out a range of experiments and took it in turn to practice:

  • Measuring River Velocity
  • Measuring Cross Sectional Area
  • Calculating discharge
  • Measuring & Sketching Valley/River Gradient
  • Bedload Analysis
